The fibre ring is 82% laid, and the first homes are connected

Under every Novaterra street runs a ring of fibre in its own duct. Here is how it was laid without digging up the same road twice, and what it means for residents.

Why a ring

A ring means every building can be reached from two directions. If one length of cable is cut, traffic simply goes the other way round. For the businesses in Circuit, and for anyone working from home, that is the difference between a bad afternoon and no afternoon at all.

One duct, dug once

Most estates in Lagos lay cables road by road, provider by provider. Each new service means a new trench. At Novaterra, a single shared duct runs under every street, with access chambers every 60 metres. New fibre is blown through, not dug in.

We wanted the internet to be as boring as the water supply. Always there, never news.

What residents get

Every home is wired with fibre to a point in each room. Three example internet providers will sell service on the ring, so you can choose, and switch, without anyone lifting a paving stone.

What is left

The last 18% of the ring runs through The Marina, where the sea wall had to come first. It will be finished by January 2027, ahead of the first villa handovers.
