Green plan

Built for Lagos weather, not a brochure.

Heat, flooding and power cuts are the real tests of a city in Lagos. Our green plan is about passing those tests every day, and publishing the numbers so you can check.

Targets

What we have promised

Each target has a date and a public report. Example targets for this demo.

  1. 2026

    Sea wall built high

The full 2.6 km sea wall at 1.2 m above the engineers' minimum.

  2. 2026

    Stormwater canal

1.2 km Greenway canal holds a one-in-100-year storm.

  3. 2027

    30% solar at midday

Rooftop solar supplies 30% of the city's daytime load.

  4. 2028

    Zero diesel

No diesel generators anywhere inside the boundary.

  5. 2030

    Half the water reused

Treated grey water for every garden and toilet.

How

The levers

  1. Shade before cooling

Deep balconies, street trees and colonnades cut the heat before any cooling is switched on.

  2. Water that stays

Rain is caught on roofs, held in the canal and used in gardens, so less is pumped from the ground.

  3. Edges that protect

The lagoon edge is planted with mangroves in front of the sea wall, which calms waves and gives fish a home.

  4. Materials with less carbon

Concrete with slag replacing part of the cement, and timber from certified forests for doors and floors.

  5. Waste sorted at the door

Every home sorts into three bins, collected daily. Food waste feeds the park's compost.

On the ground

Greenway in the rains

A bright children's playground on a sunny day

During the heavy rains of July 2026, the canal took the water from 40 hectares and the streets stayed dry. The app showed the canal level rising and falling by the hour.

We publish a short report after every major storm: rainfall, canal level, any streets that held water and what we changed afterwards.

Questions

Green questions

Is the mangrove planting real?

Yes. Over 9,000 seedlings are planned along the lagoon edge, in partnership with an example coastal charity.

Do residents pay more for all this?

Service charges include the operation of the canal and water reuse. They are published each January.
