What this centre does.

About 1,600 babies are born at Avenor each year. Most mothers meet the same small team of midwives throughout pregnancy, and every delivery suite has its own bathroom, a chair for a partner and a window.
We support the birth you want where it is safe, and explain clearly when a change of plan is needed. Obstetricians, anaesthetists and the special care baby team are on site at all hours.

Booking visit, scans, blood tests and regular checks, in a package or pay as you go.
Labour and birth
Natural birth, pain relief including epidurals, and caesarean section when needed.
High risk pregnancy clinic
Joint care with cardiology and the baby team for mothers who need closer watching.
Special care baby unit
Ten cots with neonatal nurses, and a room where mothers can stay close.

Gynaecology clinics, fertility advice, cervical screening and menopause support.

Can my partner be with me in labour?
Yes, one birth partner can stay throughout, including in theatre for most caesarean sections.
Do HMOs cover maternity?

What if I need a caesarean?
Our obstetricians explain why, what happens and what recovery looks like, before anything is done unless it is an emergency.
