Face, eyelids and nose

The face, with restraint

Eyelids, nose, ears and the lower face and neck. The aim is always to look like yourself on a rested day, and our surgeons will often suggest less than you came in for.

Our approach

Before anything, a conversation

Faces carry heritage and family resemblance. Our face surgeon, Dr Oghenero Efe-Akpovi, plans with hand drawings over a printed photo you keep, never with borrowed pictures of other people.

Melanin-rich skin can scar more visibly and change colour after surgery, so incisions are placed in natural creases and inside the nose wherever possible, and you are given a scar care plan from day one.

Every result is personal and no outcome is promised. Surgery carries real risks, which your surgeon explains in person before you decide anything.

  • Breathing, eyesight or ear history that may change the plan
  • Hand-drawn sketches and measurements, done with you
  • Where scars will sit, and how they usually settle on deeper skin
  • Bruising and swelling timelines, so you can plan work and events

Recovery

A typical timeline

Everyone heals differently. Your surgeon gives you a written version for your own plan.

1

Swelling and bruising peak. Cold compresses, head raised, rest.

2
Day 5 to 7

Stitches or splint removed at the clinic.

3
Week 2

Most people return to desk work and go out with light make-up.

4
Month 3

Swelling mostly settled, though the nose can take a year.

5
Month 12

Final review with your surgeon.

Risks, in plain words

What can go wrong

Every operation carries risk. These are the main ones for this area. Your surgeon explains how likely each is for you.

  • Bleeding or a collection of blood under the skin
  • Infection, usually treated with tablets
  • Asymmetry or a result that is different from your plan
  • Scarring, including raised scars on keloid-prone skin
  • Dry eyes after eyelid surgery, usually short-lived
  • A further operation in a small number of cases

Drawn, never borrowed

We illustrate plans with drawings like these and with your own measurements. We never show other people’s bodies to sell a procedure.

Questions

About face

Can you make my nose look like someone else’s?

No, and we will not try. We refine your own features in proportion to your face.

How long before I can wear glasses after nose surgery?

Usually after four weeks. Until then the coordinators can help with taped frames or contact lenses.

Is eyelid surgery covered by HMOs?

Occasionally, when heavy lids block eyesight and a field test shows it. We can arrange the test.

When can I travel home?

After day surgery, the next day. After a face lift, we suggest five nights near Effurun.
