Patient money, explained plainly
How we think about risk, what we invest in and what we will never do. Take the five-question risk quiz to see which example portfolio may suit you.
Six rules we follow
Written into our investment policy and reviewed each year by the investment committee.
Goals before products
We start with what the money is for and when it is needed. The products come last.
Price in inflation
Every target is shown in future naira. A goal that ignores inflation is a goal you will miss.
Short goals stay safe
Money needed within three years sits mostly in Treasury bills and money market funds.
Spread the risk
Across fixed income, Nigerian shares and dollar assets, so no single event sinks a plan.
Keep costs low
We prefer simple, low-cost funds and say exactly what every layer of fees costs you.
Rebalance on a schedule
Each quarter we bring portfolios back to target, so decisions are made by rules, not nerves.
Which example portfolio may suit you?
Question 1 of 5
A starting point for a conversation, not advice. Example details for this demo.
The building blocks
All held in your name with licensed custodians and fund managers.
| Asset | Role in a plan | Example rate range used | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Treasury bills | Safe home for money needed soon | 10% to 14% a year | May trail inflation |
| Government bonds | Steady income over several years | 12% to 16% a year | Prices move when rates change |
| Money market funds | Emergency funds and cash waiting to be invested | 11% to 14% a year | May trail inflation |
| Nigerian shares | Long-term growth ahead of inflation | 15% to 25% a year over long periods | Large swings, years of losses possible |
| Dollar assets | Protection against a weaker naira, foreign fees | 5% to 8% a year in dollars | Exchange rates and foreign markets |
Things we will never do
- Promise you a return, guaranteed or otherwise
- Take a commission from a fund manager, insurer or developer
- Hold your money in our own bank account
- Put money you need within three years into shares
- Recommend anything we would not explain to our own parents
- Push you to invest more than your emergency fund allows
What you receive, and when
Short, readable and on time. You should never have to chase us for a statement.
Quarterly report
Two pages: what you own, how each goal is tracking against the plan, what we changed and why. Sent within ten working days of quarter end.
Annual review
A full meeting with both advisers to revisit goals, income, family changes and tax. We re-run every goal in the planner with fresh example rates.
Custodian statements
Sent to you directly by the custodian, so you can check our reports against an independent record.
Change notices
When we rebalance or switch a fund, you get a short note explaining the change before it happens.
Start with a planning review
Sixty minutes with an adviser at our Ajah office or on a video call. We look at your goals, your cash flow and what you already own, then write it up. The N25,000 review fee comes off your plan fee if you go ahead.
