Getting your fleet ready for the rainy season on the Kaduna roads

Rain brings flooded underpasses, washed-out shoulders and brakes that work harder. A short checklist in May saves expensive weeks in August.

Tyres first

Tread under 3 mm does not clear water well. Check every tyre, including spares, before the first heavy storms. Rotate where wear is uneven and replace in pairs on the same axle. Our tyre register flags vehicles that are close to the limit.

Brakes and wipers

Wet brakes fade. Have pads and shoes checked and brake fluid replaced if it is over two years old. Wiper blades are cheap and often forgotten until the first storm on the expressway.

The cheapest rainy season repair is the one done in May.

Plan routes around known flood points

Several underpasses and low roads in Kaduna South flood after heavy rain. Mark them as geofences so the control room can warn drivers and suggest another route before they get stuck.

Electrics and batteries

Damp gets into old wiring. Check battery terminals, earth straps and lights. A tracker with a backup battery keeps reporting even if the vehicle battery fails in a flood.
