1. Measure what you burn
Fit a simple tank level sensor and log run hours daily. Most clients are surprised: the generator runs longer than anyone thought, and deliveries do not always match what the tank received.
2. Check the size
A 500 kVA set running at 20 percent load burns far more per useful kilowatt hour than a smaller set near its sweet spot. Many buildings would save by adding a smaller set for nights and weekends.
3. Schedule the big loads
Air conditioning, pumps and water heaters can often be staggered or run during grid hours. A small change in schedules can take a large bite out of peak load.
4. Reconcile every delivery
Seal tanks, witness deliveries, and compare litres bought with hours run every month. The gap is where money disappears.
5. Then consider solar hybrid
Once you know your real load, a solar and inverter bank can carry nights and light loads while the generator rests. Our diesel estimator gives a first example figure; a two week load measurement gives a real one.
