How we work

Calm birds lay better eggs

Our houses are open sided with deep litter and cross ventilation, designed for the heat of the valley. Water is filtered and cooled, feed comes from our own mill, and a vet visits every house twice a week. Eggs are collected at six, candled and graded, and on trucks by noon.

  • Vaccination plan agreed with a licensed vet
  • Feed from our own mill, tested every batch
  • Solar backed fans and water pumps
  • Eggs dated by collection day on every crate

Through the year

Poultry in four seasons

Harmattan

Dry air and dust. Extra misting, more water points and closer checks for respiratory stress.

First rains

A new layer flock is placed so it reaches peak lay during the long rains.

Long rains

Peak egg output. Litter is turned daily to stay dry.

Harvest

Broiler batches timed for the Christmas and new year demand.

The process

Step by step

  1. Hatch

Day-old chicks from our hatchery or vetted partner hatcheries, vaccinated on day one.

  2. Brood

Two weeks under heat, with starter feed and close watching.

  3. Grow and lay

Broilers ready at six weeks. Layers start at 18 weeks and lay for about 72 weeks.

  4. Collect and grade

Eggs candled, graded by size and packed in crates of 30.

Questions

About poultry

Do you sell to small poultry farmers?

Yes. Day-old chicks, feed and advice. Many of our feed customers started with one box of 50 chicks.

How fresh are the eggs?

Collected the same morning and dated on the crate. We aim to deliver within two days of lay.

Do you use antibiotics?

Only when a vet prescribes treatment for sick birds, never as a growth promoter, and we follow the withdrawal period before any sale.

Can I order spent layers?

Yes, in batches of 100 when a flock is retired. Ask the sales team for dates.
