Home / Divisions / Catfish raised in clean water, smoked on the estate.
Division: Aquaculture
Twenty-two earthen and concrete ponds, a hatchery and a smokehouse. We sell catfish live, fresh on ice or smoked, and run weekly standing orders for restaurants.
How we work
Good fish starts with good water. Our ponds are fed from boreholes, aerated at night and tested every morning for oxygen and ammonia. Water drained from the ponds irrigates the dry season vegetable plots, so nothing is wasted.
Through the year
Ponds drained, desilted and limed. Pond water irrigates the vegetable plots.
Ponds refilled and conditioned for two weeks before stocking.
Fingerlings stocked from the hatchery. Feeding rises week by week.
Main harvest. Fish sold live, iced or sent to the smokehouse.
The process
Broodstock spawned in the hatchery, fry raised indoors for four weeks.
Fingerlings stocked at a safe density and fed floating feed twice a day.
Fish sorted by size every four weeks to keep growth even.
Sold live from the pond edge, or gutted and smoked for 18 hours.
