14 km of flowline in one dry season
Replacing a corroded flowline in mangrove swamp before the rains, with no lost-time injury and nine days in hand.
Swamp, 2026
The old flowline had leaked twice in a year. The operator needed it replaced between December and March, when the swamp is lowest and access is possible by buggy and barge. Miss the window and the work would wait a full year.
We split the route into four fronts, each with its own welding spread, and housed the crews on our two accommodation barges moved along the creek as the work advanced. Pipe came from the Onne yard pre-coated and in double joints to halve the welds in the swamp.
Every weld was inspected by phased array the same day. The line was hydrotested in four sections and dewatered with high-volume air, then handed back with a full weld and test record.

E4What we learned
- 01Plan around the window
The schedule was built backwards from the date access would close, not forwards from mobilisation.
- 02Move the camp with the work
Less travel means more working hours and fewer boat incidents.
- 03Inspect the same day
Same-day inspection means a repair is a short job, not a crisis.
