Training recordWeek 1

Shadow shifts complete. Ready to work alone from Monday with Mama Arit.

Caregivers

The people who come through your door

Every caregiver is interviewed in person, vetted with two guarantors and references, trained by our nurses and shadows an experienced colleague before working alone.

Vetting

Five checks before anyone visits your home

  1. 01

    Interview and practical test

Two interviews and a practical test with a nurse: moving someone safely, a bed bath, a fluids chart.

  2. 02

    Two guarantors

Two guarantors who have known the applicant for years, visited and signed for by our office.

  3. 03

    References

Two past employers or clinics, called and written down.

  4. 04

    Background check

A police character check and identity check at the start and every two years.

  5. 05

    Shadow shifts

At least five shifts alongside an experienced caregiver before working alone.

Supervision

Nobody works alone for long

  • A supervising nurse visits every client at least once a month
  • Caregivers send a short visit summary to the care office after every visit
  • An on-call nurse answers caregivers day and night
  • Every family can ask for a different caregiver, no reasons needed

The rule we teach first: it is their home and their day. We are guests who help.
