Local first
Nigerian fruit, cocoa, honey and flour wherever the quality is there.
Our story
Porcelain began in 2019 in a flat in Sangotedo, baking birthday cakes for friends. Today it is a team of nine, a kitchen, a tea room and a van that leaves at 6am.
The founder
Ifeoma Nwachukwu (an example founder) spent ten years in banking on the Island and collected teacups from every market she passed. When she left, the cups needed a home and so did her weekend baking.
The first Porcelain cake was a zobo velvet tier for her sister’s naming ceremony. Forty orders followed that month. The tea room opened in 2022, so people had somewhere to sit while they collected.
Six years
One oven, one mixer, birthday cakes for friends and colleagues.
Lockdown birthdays at home meant cake orders tripled. The zobo velvet sponge was born.
A proper kitchen, the tea room with eighteen seats and a team of five.
Our own refrigerated van, so cakes reach Ikoyi and the Mainland cold and upright.
A teaching kitchen and an online cake designer, so more people can plan with us.

What we care about

The price in the designer is the price. No surprise fees on the day.
A tea room that stays quiet, with seats that are never squeezed in.
Day old slices go to a shelter in Badore, and boxes are recyclable card.
