Questions
Straight answers to what students and parents ask us most. If yours is not here, ask the chat or the admissions team.
Starting out
Do I need to be good at maths?
You need to be comfortable with secondary school maths and physics. If you are rusty, the six week foundation term brings you up to standard.
Is flying safe?
Training flights follow strict procedures, with daily inspections, briefings and a safety officer who reviews every report. Like any activity, flying carries some risk, and we manage it carefully.
Can I train if I wear glasses?
Often yes. The medical sets the eyesight standard, and many pilots fly with glasses or contact lenses. Only the aviation medical examiner can decide.
Money
How do I pay?
Bank transfer, card or POS at the Ikoyi office, or through Receivly online. Every payment gets a receipt.
Is there a refund policy?
Seat deposits are refundable for 14 days. Phase fees are refundable before the phase starts, and unused flying is refunded at the hourly rate if you leave.
Do you offer scholarships?
We offer two part scholarships a year for strong students from families on modest incomes. Applications open in September.
Training life
How many hours a week will I fly?
Full time students usually fly four to six lessons a week in the dry season, fewer in the rainy season.
What happens in the rainy season?
We fly more in the simulator and schedule ground school heavily, so progress continues.
What about power cuts?
Simulators and classrooms run on inverter and generator backup. The base has solar and a generator.
After you finish
Will you help me find a job?
Our careers desk shares vacancies, reviews CVs and runs assessment preparation. We never promise employment.
Can I instruct here?
Graduates with an instructor rating can apply for instructor roles when we recruit.

Still deciding?
Open mornings run on the first Saturday of each month. Bring your questions and your parents, meet instructors and current students, and sit in the simulator.
