Plan your pilot career path

Choose where you are starting and where you want to fly. The planner lays out every stage in order, with months, flying hours and example costs, then draws your route.

    How your hours build up

Each bar is a stage on your route. Airlines usually look for a commercial licence with instrument rating and around 200 hours; charter operators often ask for more.

What each destination really looks like

    Airline first officer

You fly as the second pilot on a jet or turboprop after the airline's own type rating. Recruitment comes in waves, so many of our graduates instruct or fly charter while they wait.

    Charter and corporate

Smaller aircraft, varied routes, early mornings and short notice. Operators value instrument experience and good customer manners as much as hours.

    Flight instructor

You teach from the right seat and build hours quickly. It suits people who like explaining things and sharpens your own flying.

    Private flying

Fly yourself and your family by day for business or pleasure. The private licence is the destination, and you can add night and instrument ratings later.

    An honest word on jobs

Nobody can promise you an airline job, and you should be wary of any school that does. Hiring depends on fleets, routes and the economy.

What we can promise is a clear plan, honest progress reports and help with applications. Our careers desk shares every vacancy we hear about with graduates, and operators visit the academy twice a year.

    Questions people ask

Can I change my destination later?

Yes. The first stages are the same for every commercial route. Most students decide between airline, charter and instructing during hour building.

    Why does modular take longer?

Modular students fly around work and family, usually at weekends. The flying hours are similar, but the gaps between lessons add time and sometimes extra refresher hours.

Is the cost on the planner what I will pay?

It is an example built from our published phase fees. Your offer letter fixes your fees for each phase, and extra hours are only charged if you need them.

Turn your route into an application.

Save the path, pay one application fee, and we will invite you to an assessment day in Ikoyi.
