Crowds
Escalators in a Lagos mall at Christmas
December weekends at a Lekki mall can bring ten times the usual riders. We schedule extra checks before the season, station an engineer on site on the busiest Saturdays, and brief security staff on emergency stops and child safety.
For moving walks with trolleys we check that trolley wheels lock on the incline and that the landing plates are level. Signs about holding hands and standing still are in English, Yoruba and Pidgin.
