Example figures for this demo.
Ardent market agents now visit eleven markets every week, from Terminus and Katako in Jos to Bukuru, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos.
Traders hand cash to an agent at their stall and receive an SMS receipt at once. The money lands in their Ardent account the same day.
Agents also open accounts, pay out cash and help traders set up QR payments so customers can pay without cash.
“My stall never closes for the bank. The agent comes to me.”
The service began at Terminus in 1998, when Ardent was still a savings society. It has grown with the markets, and now handles about 30,000 collections a week in this example.
Each agent carries a card reader, a printer and a phone with the agent app, and is visible by a saffron vest.
Collection days for each market are listed on the branches page and announced in the live strip on this website.
