About Ardent
A bank from Jos, since 1998
Ardent began as a savings society for traders at Terminus market. Today it is a commercial bank with nine branches, still headquartered in Rayfield.
01 / Story
From a market society to a bank
In 1998, forty traders at Terminus market pooled their savings so that none of them had to queue at a bank in town. They called it Ardent, because they meant it.
The society became a microfinance bank in 2006 and a commercial bank in 2019. We kept the habits that built it: agents in the markets, field officers on the farms and decisions made in Jos by people who live here.
We lend most of what we hold in deposits to people and businesses on the plateau: traders, farmers, schools, pharmacies, transporters and workshops.
