Plan with example numbers
Three simple tools to see how regular investing, dividends and costs add up over time. They use example rates you can change, and they are not a promise of what any investment will do.
Tool 1
Monthly investing
Example rate only. Real returns vary year to year and can be negative.
Tool 2
Dividends reinvested
Assumes the share price stays flat, to show the effect of dividends alone. Example only.
Tool 3
The cost of trading often
Uses example fees of about 1.7 percent each way.
Advice
Using these tools well
Try low rates too
Run the planner at 4 or 5 percent as well as 10. If the plan only works at the high rate, it is a fragile plan.
Remember inflation
Naira figures twenty years out buy less than today. Think in what the money must pay for, not just the total.
