What makes a carpet valuable

Construction
Hand-knotted beats machine-made, and finer knotting takes more hours.

Materials and dyes
Good wool, silk, and natural dyes that have aged well add value.

Age and rarity
Older carpets in good condition, and unusual designs, are sought after.
- 04
Condition
Even wear is fine. Holes, rot, moth damage and old poor repairs reduce value.

Size
Very large and very small sizes can be harder to place and are priced accordingly.

Will you buy my carpet outright?
Sometimes. We buy good carpets for the gallery, and we always offer more as credit than as cash.
Is the free opinion really free?
Yes. There is no obligation to sell, trade or book a paid valuation.
Can you value a carpet in another city?
Yes, from photos for a first opinion. Written valuations outside Lagos include travel.
Do you value other textiles?
Kilims, saddle bags and woven hangings, yes. We pass other items to trusted specialists.
