How we work with authors

Every author has one editor from first read to publication. We agree a schedule together, usually twelve to eighteen months, and we never rush a book to meet a season.

We pay an advance against royalties, send statements twice a year and share every review, good or bad. Authors keep their rights to film and stage unless they ask us to sell them.

  • One editor, start to finish
  • Advance and royalties, statements twice a year
  • Cover approval for every author
  • Launch reading at our shop
  • Translation rights handled by our rights desk

My editor read my book more closely than I did. She found a character I had forgotten I wrote.
