Cash on delivery tips

Making cash on delivery work for a small shop

Cash on delivery helps buyers trust a new shop. It also brings failed deliveries and late money. Here is how our busiest sellers make it work.

Confirm before you send

Call or message the buyer to confirm the address, the amount and that they will be in. Sellers who confirm see far fewer refused parcels.

Be clear about the total

Tell buyers the exact amount including delivery. Arguments at the gate are nearly always about a surprise fee.

Offer transfer at the door

Many buyers prefer to transfer when the parcel arrives. Riders confirm the payment on their phone before handing over, so nobody waits for change.

Watch your statement

Check the daily statement against your orders. Patterns help: if one area refuses often, ask for a small deposit there.
