OpenHow a car battery runs the essentials in a home for three days, and what it costs.
By the Nerova desk / Ajah, Lagos / 30 September 2026
AJAH, LAGOS: When the grid goes off in most Lagos homes, a generator starts. In about 600 Nerova homes, nothing seems to happen at all: the Home Link box switches the house to the car in under a second.
Home Link sits beside the distribution board and connects to the car through the charging cable. It powers the circuits you choose: usually lights, fans, the fridge, Wi-Fi and sockets for phones and laptops.
A full Savanna runs those essentials for about three days. A Kora manages about a day and a half. Air conditioning can run too, but it shortens the time considerably.
“My mother asked which generator we bought. I told her it was parked outside.”Babatunde, example client
Home Link stops at 20 percent charge, so the car can always reach a hub. Grid power returning is detected automatically and the house switches back.
Installation takes half a day and costs ₦1.15 million in this demo, including a changeover switch and surge protection. It works with every Nerova built since 2024.
Owners with solar panels can also use the car to store daytime solar energy for the evening, a setting found in the app under Energy.
