Traditional rites
Guided by your elders, done your family's way
For the peoples of southern Kaduna, and for families from every part of Nigeria who call Kaduna home, we follow the guidance of your family heads. Some rites are private. We step back when they are, and handle everything else.
The steps
How the days usually unfold
Every family is different. This is the usual order; we will follow yours.
- I
Meeting the family heads
We listen first. The elders decide the rites, the place of burial and the timing, and we plan around them.
- II
Care while the family gathers
Refrigerated care for as long as needed while relatives travel and announcements are made.
- III
Preparation
Dressing in traditional attire or as the family directs, with family members present if custom requires.
- IV
Journey to the home town
Refrigerated transport anywhere in Nigeria, with the permits and paperwork the journey needs.
- V
Rites and burial
At the family compound or ancestral land. Private rites are left to the family; we look after canopies, chairs, power and guests.
- VI
Later ceremonies
Some families hold further rites months later. We can plan these with you, step by step.

Questions
Questions families ask
Will you take part in the rites?
Only as the family asks. We are guests at your rites and we follow the instructions of the elders.
Can you help when the family is divided?
We cannot decide for a family, but we can hold a calm meeting, explain options and costs plainly, and give the elders time.
How far can you travel?
Anywhere in Nigeria by road. For burials outside Nigeria, we work with partners for repatriation.
We are here, day and night
Call us at any hour. A member of our team answers, not a machine, and there is never any pressure to decide anything on the first call.
