Six hundred farmers, one field
Our sixth farmers day brought six hundred outgrowers to the Iseyin collection centre for a day of field demonstrations, contract signing and a long lunch under the mango trees.
New seed contracts
Farmers signed contracts for the next cassava season, with improved cuttings on credit and a minimum price agreed before planting. For the first time, soya contracts were offered to farmers in Saki.
I know my price before I plant. That is the difference between guessing and planning.
Awards
Three farmer groups received awards for quality and for training their neighbours. The winning group from Ado-Awaye delivered cassava with the lowest rejection rate in the programme.
