Why the Island vans now leave at 03:45
October 2026, 3 minute read
The bridge problem
For years our Island van left Surulere at 04:30. On a good day it crossed the bridge in twenty minutes. On a bad day, with a breakdown or roadworks, the first Lekki kiosks did not see bread until 07:00, long after their morning customers had gone.
What we changed
We split the Island route into two vans and moved the first one to 03:45. The bakery now packs the G2 crates first, at 03:15, so they are loaded while the other routes are still being crated.
What distributors saw
Across September, 96 percent of Island drops landed before 05:30, up from 71 percent. Supermarkets in Lekki told us their bread shelf now fills before the doors open. These are example figures for this demo.
What it means for you
If you are on G2, expect your driver earlier. If you are not ready that early, ask the trade desk to move you to the second G2 van, which drops from 05:15.
Clear answers sell bread.
