Thirty-nine years without bromate
August 2026, 4 minute read
A rule from the first oven
Mama Adunni Okafor refused to use potassium bromate in 1987, long before it was banned in Nigerian bread. She said that if a loaf needed a chemical to look big, the dough had not been kneaded properly.
How we get volume instead
Our Agege dough is kneaded for twice as long as most, then proved slowly at a steady warm temperature. An enzyme based improver helps the crumb, and it is listed on every bag.
How we check
A sample from every line goes to our in-house lab each night, and an outside laboratory tests random loaves every quarter. Results are kept on file for any distributor who asks.
Why we are telling you
Customers ask shop owners whether bread is safe. Goldcrust distributors can point to the bag, the code and this note. Clear answers sell bread.
