Ninety-one percent on time: what changed in a year

A year ago, 78 percent of our flights left on time. Here is what we changed to reach 91 percent, and what still gets in the way.

On time means a flight leaves within 15 minutes of its scheduled time. In October 2025, 78 percent of Zenara flights did. In the last twelve months, 91 percent did (example figures).

Doors close at 15 minutes

We started closing doors 15 minutes before departure and telling travellers clearly. The first month was hard. By the third, late boarding had halved.

Spare jet, every morning

We now keep one jet and crew on standby in Lagos from 5:00 to 10:00. When a morning flight has a technical check, the spare takes over and the first wave stays on time.

Leaving on time is not luck. It is a hundred small habits, every morning.

Faster turnarounds

Ground teams now board by groups from the back and clean while bags are offloaded. A turnaround in Lagos takes 35 minutes instead of 50.

What still delays us

Harmattan haze in the north, evening thunderstorms in the rainy season and air traffic holds into Lagos. When they happen, the app tells you before the airport does.

We publish the full on-time record every month in the newsroom, route by route.
