Starlight over Dugbe
Every kite needs a little wind and a lot of courage. A girl and her grandfather build a kite big enough to carry a wish over the rooftops of the old city.
Synopsis
The story
Ten year old Morenike lives above her grandfather's tailoring shop near the market. When the shop is about to close, she decides the only answer is a wish, and the only way to send a wish is a very big kite.
Drawn in a warm, hand painted style with songs in English and Yoruba, the film follows Morenike across the rooftops, through the market and up to the hills on the night of the city festival.
It is gentle enough for four year olds and funny enough for their parents. In the Kids' Den the lights stay a little up and the volume a little down, so nobody gets frightened.
