Red carpet

Premiere nights

An audience in a dark auditorium lit by the screen

Every Nollywood release at Sapphire opens with a premiere night at Ring Road. The red carpet goes down in the lobby at 6pm, the cast and crew arrive around 7pm and the film starts at 8pm in the Sapphire Grand.

Premiere tickets are ₦15,000 and include a drink, small chops and a seat in the Grand. Sapphire members can book four weeks ahead, everyone else two weeks ahead. Tickets usually sell out within a few days.

If you are a producer and would like to premiere your film with us, our programming team would love to hear from you on the private screenings page.

Programming

How we choose films

  1. We watch everything first

Our programming team of four watches every film before it is booked, including every Nollywood title offered to us.

  2. Ibadan comes first

Films made in or about Oyo get the best times for the first two weeks, and Yoruba language films always get subtitles.

  3. We listen to the box office

If a film is selling, it stays. The Last Danfo has now been on our screens for fourteen weeks.

  4. Families get mornings

Every weekend morning has at least one family film at every cinema, even in the busy holiday weeks.
