01Quality and certificates
Every heat tested, every result online
Our laboratory tests chemistry and mechanical properties for every heat before a single bundle is sold. Look up any certificate by heat number.
- Standard
- BS 4449 B500B and NIS
- Tests per heat
- Chemistry, tensile, bend
- Lab
- On site, ISO 17025 practice
- Certificates
- Online, by heat number
02Certificate lookup
Find a mill test certificate
The heat number is printed on the yellow tag on every bundle. Try 26-1184, 26-1172 or 26-0997.
03What we test
Results on every certificate
| Test | Requirement, B500B | Our typical result |
|---|---|---|
| Yield strength | 500 MPa minimum | 535 to 560 MPa |
| Tensile to yield ratio | 1.08 minimum | 1.15 to 1.20 |
| Elongation at maximum force | 5% minimum | 8 to 11% |
| Carbon equivalent | 0.50% maximum | 0.38 to 0.44% |
| Bend test | No cracks | Pass, every heat |
04The laboratory
Eight people, three shifts
Our laboratory runs alongside the mill around the clock. A spectrometer checks chemistry in the ladle before casting, and a 1,000 kN universal testing machine pulls samples from every heat.
Independent laboratories audit our results every quarter, and engineers are welcome to witness tests by appointment.
Traceable tags
Size, heat, date and line on every bundle tag.
Statistical control
Results charted daily; drift triggers a stop.
Witness testing
Engineers can watch their samples tested.
05Questions
Quality
What if a heat fails?
It is downgraded or remelted and never sold as B500. The certificate system will not issue a certificate for a failed heat.
Can my engineer take samples on site?
Yes. We will reimburse independent tests that show a result below specification.
Do you have a quality certificate from a standards body?
Our products are certified to the Nigerian Industrial Standard and audited annually. Copies are available on request.
