02History
Twenty two years in five lines
2004, a yard and a shear
Three founders start cutting and bending imported bar for their own sites in Garki.
2009, the first rolling line
A second hand line rolls 60,000 tonnes in its first full year.
2014, melting our own steel
Induction furnaces let us make billets from local scrap instead of importing them.
2020, our own laboratory
Tensile and chemistry testing on site for every heat, with certificates online.
2026, Line 2 at full speed
Upgraded roughing stands take capacity to 600,000 tonnes a year.
03How we work
Strict about steel, easy to buy from
A builder in Lugbe and a dealer in Kano should get the same bar, the same paperwork and the same honest delivery date. That is the whole idea.
We publish our prices every morning, we test every heat and put the certificate online, and we run our own fleet so that a promised day means something. When a truck is late, the site manager hears it from us first.
Northfield is privately owned, with no foreign parent. Profits go back into the mill, the fleet and the people who run them.

About the company
Is Northfield a manufacturer or a trader?
A manufacturer. We melt, cast and roll in Abuja. We do not resell imported bar.
Do you sell to individuals building one house?
Yes, through our distributors, or directly for orders of five tonnes and above.
Can we visit the mill?
Contractors and engineers can book a guided visit on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Safety boots are provided.
