04How it works

The arithmetic, in plain view

01

Mass per metre

For a bar of diameter d in millimetres, mass in kg per metre is d squared divided by 162. Y16 is 1.58 kg per metre.

02

Total length per size

Number of bars times length each, summed for every bar mark of the same size, plus your waste allowance.

03

Stock lengths

Total length divided by 12 metres, rounded up. Cutting at the mill reduces waste.

04

Price

Tonnes times today's example price for that size, before VAT and delivery.

05Questions

Using the calculator

Is this a substitute for my engineer's schedule?

No. It only totals what is on your schedule. Your structural engineer decides sizes and quantities.

Why add waste?

Laps, offcuts and site losses typically add three to eight percent unless we cut and bend for you.

Can you price from a PDF schedule?

Yes. Upload it on the quote page and our estimators reply within two working hours.
