What changed
During a planned twenty one day shutdown, the maintenance team replaced the first six roughing stands, rebuilt the cooling bed and installed new water boxes for quenching.
Why it matters
The upgrade lets Line 2 roll Y25 and Y32 at full speed, which used to be done only on Line 1. Lead times for heavy bar fall from five days to three.
Safety during the shutdown
Over 190 contractors worked through the shutdown without a lost time injury, under permit to work and daily toolbox talks.
What customers will notice
More heavy bar in stock, shorter waits for bridge and foundation orders, and the same certificates for every heat.
