Our plant

Moniya Works: rock in, cement out

Our integrated plant sits twenty minutes north of Ibadan. One kiln line, two cement mills, a packing hall with four rotary packers and a laboratory that never closes.

How cement is made

Seven steps, one line

A simple view of what happens at Moniya, with the numbers our engineers watch.

1

Blast and haul

Limestone is blasted at the face and hauled by 40 tonne dump trucks to the crusher.

2

Crush and blend

Crushed to fist size and stacked in a blending bed so the chemistry evens out.

3

Raw mill

Ground with clay and iron ore into raw meal finer than flour.

4

Preheat and burn

Five cyclone stages heat the meal before the kiln takes it to 1,450°C.

5

Cool

Grate coolers drop clinker temperature fast. Slow cooling costs strength.

6

Finish mill

Clinker meets gypsum and limestone in ball mills, tuned per grade.

7

Pack and load

Rotary packers fill 50 kg bags with a batch code, straight onto trucks.

Power and water

Built for Nigerian grid reality

The plant runs on a 40 MW gas power station of its own, with the grid as backup rather than the other way round. Water is recycled from the cooling circuit, and dust from the kiln is captured in bag filters and returned to the mill.

  • 40 MW gas turbines, 3 days of fuel stored on site
  • Bag filters on every stack, monitored around the clock
  • Waste heat dries raw materials before milling

Is there a fee?

No. We do ask for names a week ahead for the safety briefing.

Can I see my own batch tested?

Consultants can book a laboratory visit and watch cube tests for batches they have bought.

Is there parking?

Yes, and a shuttle from Bodija depot at 8am on tour days.
