Halcrest has opened a second solid dose line at its Cable Point plant in Asaba, doubling tablet capacity to 1.2 billion a year and adding 64 permanent jobs, most filled by people from Delta State.
Why a second line
Demand for paracetamol, zinc and vitamin tablets has grown every year since 2020, and the first line had been running three shifts, six days a week. A single breakdown meant pharmacies waited. With two lines, maintenance no longer stops supply.
Two lines means a breakdown is an inconvenience, not a shortage.
What is new
The line has a sealed granulation suite, an automatic weight check on every tablet and a coating pan that uses a third less energy. It runs on the plant’s own solar and gas power.
Training
All 64 new operators completed twelve weeks in the training room before running a batch. Nineteen are graduates of science courses at universities in the south-south and south-east.
For pharmacists
Lead times on tablet lines fall from five days to 48 hours for Delta and Edo. Trade prices are unchanged for the rest of 2026.
