Questions
About duty
Is this the exact duty I will pay?
No. It is an estimate with example rates. Customs sets the final figure on the PAAR, using the official exchange rate on that day.
Why does customs add insurance if I did not buy any?
The customs value always includes insurance. Without a certificate, an amount of 1.5% of FOB is added.
Can I lower my duty?
Only by describing and classifying goods correctly, and by using a certificate of origin where a preference applies. We never under-declare.
Who pays the duty?
You pay through your bank, into the customs account. We prepare the entry and send you the receipt.
What if the rate changes before my goods land?
The figure moves with the official rate. We update your estimate on the day we file.
