Safety and community
Everyone comes down safe
Climbing a tower is skilled, dangerous work. So is living next to one if it is run badly. Here is how we keep riggers safe and neighbours happy.

Our climbing rules
Certified or grounded
Only certified climbers go up. Certificates are checked at the gate.
Two people, always
No one climbs alone. A rescue-trained partner stays at the base.
Weather stops work
No climbing in lightning, heavy rain or winds over 40 km an hour.
Power off first
Radios are switched off and locked before anyone works near antennas.
Permit to work
Every job needs a signed permit from our operations centre.
Community access charter
Our promises to neighbours
A named officer
Every community has one person at Vertex to call.
Quiet nights
Acoustic canopies on generators near homes, and solar to cut run hours.
Clean sites
No fuel on the ground, no rubbish over the fence.
Local jobs
Guards, cleaners and labourers hired from the community first.
Training
How our people learn
Climber certification
Five-day course and yearly re-test.
Rescue at height
Every pair can lower a casualty in under ten minutes.
Electrical safety
Lock-out and tag-out on every power job.
First aid
Two first aiders on every field team.
They told us about the generator canopy before we asked. Now the only sound at night is the crickets.
Good to know
About safety
Are towers safe for people nearby?
Our sites meet national limits for radio exposure. We measure after every change and share the report with landowners and community leaders.
Who do I call about noise?
The operations line, any time: +234 800 000 0181.
Can we visit a site?
Community visits can be arranged with a safety briefing.
Next step
A concern about a site?
Report it any time. A person reads every report.
