Why Tradewind

Fenced, powered and bonded, ready for your first shift

Tradewind is a private free zone on the Kano northern bypass. You lease serviced land or a ready-built factory, and the zone handles customs, power and the paperwork that slows projects down elsewhere.

Incentives

Six reasons the numbers work here

A summary of the zone incentives in plain words. Check your own project against them in two minutes.

  1. Tax holiday for exporters

Licensed enterprises that export most of their output pay no company income tax for the holiday period (example rule).

  2. Duty-free plant and raw materials

Machinery, spare parts and inputs for export production come in without import duty.

  3. Full foreign ownership

Own up to 100 percent of your zone enterprise, with capital and profits free to repatriate.

  4. One-stop approvals

Licence, customs bond, building permit and work permits handled at the one-stop centre, about 10 working days for a complete file.

  5. No import or export licences inside the zone

Goods moving in and out of the zone are cleared once, at the inland container depot.

  6. Local market access

Sell part of your output into Nigeria on payment of normal duties on that share.

Power

Power you can plan around

A 12 MW solar farm with battery storage, a dedicated 33 kV feeder from the grid and a gas plant on standby. Each plot comes with a stated capacity in MVA, written into your lease.

How it works

From first visit to first export in about six months

Most enterprises move through five steps. Investor relations stays with you through each one, and your investor portal shows where things stand.

  1. Day 1Book a visit

Tour the plots with an investor relations officer and the zone engineer.

  2. Week 1Hold a plot

Pay a refundable hold fee to keep your plot for 60 days.

  3. Week 2Apply for a licence

Submit your project plan online. The one-stop centre reviews it in about 10 working days.

  4. Month 2Sign the lease

Choose a lease of 10 to 50 years. Rent is billed quarterly through your investor portal.

  5. Month 6Start production

Build or fit out, connect power and water, and clear your first export at the depot.

Logistics

Rail to the coast, road to the Sahel

The zone sits on the northern bypass, with a rail siding into the inland container depot. Containers are sealed and cleared here, then ride to the ports or north to neighbouring markets.

We moved our spinning line here because power and customs stopped being our problem.
