Method

How a survey flight runs

Before the flight we study the boundary you send, check the airspace and arrange permission with the site owner and, where needed, the aviation authority. We plan the route on a tablet: height, overlap and flight lines.

On the day we set and measure at least five ground control points with survey grade GPS. The drone flies the grid automatically, changing batteries every 25 minutes. Most sites under 40 hectares are done before the midday heat.

Back at Marian Road the images are processed into a single map and a terrain model, checked against the control points, and delivered as a link and as files your surveyor or engineer can open.

If accuracy matters for a title or a design, we work with a registered surveyor who checks and signs the final plan.

Flying is the quick part. The careful part is the control on the ground and the checking afterwards.

Questions

About surveys

Is a drone map a legal survey plan?

No. It is a measured base map. For a survey plan used in a title, a registered surveyor checks and signs the final work, and we can arrange that.

What if it rains on the day?

We move the flight. There is no charge for weather days.

Can you fly near the airport?

Some areas near the airport and military sites are restricted. We check every site and tell you before we book.
