Department of paediatrics

Children seen by children's doctors.

Our paediatricians see newborns to sixteen-year-olds in a clinic built for small people, with a sick child clinic seven days a week and a ward where a parent can always stay.

What we look after

Conditions and care.

Every new patient sees a consultant, not a junior doctor, at the first visit. Plans are written down and shared with you.

  • Fevers, coughs and tummy upsets seen in the sick child clinic, often on the same day.
  • Vaccinations following the national schedule, with reminders by text.
  • Growth and development checks with a paediatrician and dietitian.
  • Asthma and allergies with written action plans for school and home.
  • Newborn follow-up for jaundice, feeding and weight checks.
  • Inpatient care on a children-only ward with play specialists.
