About Halden
A hospital built by consultants who came home.
Halden began in 2014 with thirty beds and a simple idea: Lagos families deserve specialist care that is calm, clear about cost and close to home.
Our story
From a 30-bed clinic to a specialist hospital.
Our founders trained and worked in teaching hospitals at home and abroad. Each of them had watched patients travel for care that could have been given in Lagos if the right team, equipment and power supply were in one place.
Halden opened on Palm Avenue with a maternity unit, a children's clinic and two consultants on call. Families came for the births and stayed for everything else, so we added cardiology, surgery, imaging and a full laboratory.
Today we employ more than 400 people, run two theatres and a level 2 neonatal unit, and still answer the phone with a person, not a menu.
