Overview

What this degree gives you

Architecture is taught in the restored Arcade Building, where every student has a studio desk for the year. Design studio takes about half of your time, supported by history, technology and professional practice.

Projects are set in real Nigerian places: a market in Suleja, a clinic in Kuje, a housing estate in Lugbe. You learn passive cooling, local materials and how to work with engineers and clients.

FAQ

Architecture: your questions

Do I need a portfolio to apply?

A short portfolio of six to ten drawings helps at screening, but we also run a drawing test for applicants without one.

Is the B.Sc. enough to practise?

Registration requires the B.Sc., the M.Sc. Architecture and supervised experience. Our M.Sc. runs in Maitama.

How much do materials cost?

Plan for about ₦180,000 a session for models and printing. The workshop provides some materials at cost.

Are studios open late?

Yes, until midnight in the week before reviews, with security on the floor.
