ELYSIANCRUISES

The fleet

Two ships, built for this coast

Small enough to slip into Lomé and Lamu, steady enough for the Cape. Both ships run on shore power in port and carry their own clean water plant.

Engineering

Quiet, steady and kind to the sea

Our chief engineer, Ibrahim Lawal, on the choices that make a small ship feel calm.

  1. Fin stabilisers

Both ships carry retractable fins that take most of the roll out of a swell, which matters on the Atlantic coast in the rainy season.

  2. A shallow draft

At 6.2 metres, Aurora can berth in ports the big ships pass by, so you walk ashore instead of waiting for a tender.

  3. Power that never blinks

Four generators and a battery bank keep the lights, the lifts and the kitchen running without a flicker, at sea and in port.

  4. Clean water made on board

We make our own drinking water from the sea and refill glass bottles in every room. No plastic bottles in the staterooms.

  5. Shore power in Lagos and Cape Town

Plugged in at the berth, the engines go quiet and the air on deck stays clean while you board.

Safety

Looked after, every hour

Every voyage starts with a calm safety briefing at your muster station. Our bridge team holds full international certificates, and the medical centre has a doctor and two nurses on every sailing.

  • Lifeboat seats for every guest and crew member, twice over
  • Medical centre open daily, with a doctor on call at night
  • Security team trained in Lagos and Cape Town
  • Fire drills every week for the whole crew

Questions

About the ships

Which ship is better for a first cruise?

Elysian Solenne is the smaller of the two and runs the Lagos weekend, which is a gentle first taste. Aurora has more restaurants and a bigger spa for longer voyages.

Are the ships accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes. Each ship has accessible staterooms with roll-in showers, lifts to every deck and ramps at the gangway. Tell us when you book so we can plan shore days around you.

Is there a dress code?

Smart casual most evenings. One dressier evening on longer voyages, when many guests wear agbada, iro and buba or a suit. Nothing is required.

Can I visit the bridge?

On sea days the captain hosts a small bridge visit for guests who sign up at guest services. Owner's suite guests have a private visit.

Ready when you are

Your cabin is waiting. Shall we plan it together?

Sit with a voyage host in Gwarinpa, call, or book online in about four minutes.
