Section D
Book a structural integrity inspection
A registered engineer visits, tests the concrete, reads the drawings and gives you a written answer: sound, sound with repairs, or needs urgent action.
What happens on the day
- Walk-roundWe look at every floor, the roof and the foundations where we can see them.
- Hammer testsA rebound hammer gives a quick read of concrete strength across columns and beams.
- CoresSmall cores are cut, sealed the same day, and crushed in the laboratory.
- DrawingsWe compare what we find with any approved drawings.
- ReportA plain report in ten working days, with photos and any repairs priced.
An honest answer, not a sales pitch
We do not do repair work ourselves, so we have no reason to find problems that are not there. Most buildings we inspect are sound, or sound with small repairs.
When something is serious, we say so clearly and help you plan the next step with a contractor of your choice.
Read our guide to integrity testsQuestions from readers
Will the cores damage my building?
No. Cores are small, taken from places that carry less load, and filled with repair mortar the same day.
Can you inspect a building under construction?
Yes. We check reinforcement before pours and test cubes, which is the cheapest time to catch problems.
Do I get a certificate?
You get a signed report from a registered engineer, which banks and buyers usually accept.

Not sure which inspection you need?
