Halima Danjuma Trio
Standards, Hausa lullabies and slow ballads, sung close to the microphone.
Chapter IIAbout
Vocal jazz on Wednesdays
Halima Danjuma grew up singing in her grandmother’s courtyard in Zaria and found jazz through her father’s records. Her trio keeps the arrangements spare: piano, brushed drums and a voice that barely needs the microphone. Expect standards slowed right down, two or three Hausa lullabies reworked as ballads, and at least one song you will hum on the way home.
