About the series

Started by runners, for runners

Stridepoint began in 2019 with 340 people running a 10K around Agodi Gardens. This season, 11 races and more than 20,000 runners across the south-west.

Runners on a road

Our story

A group of club runners from the Agodi Striders were tired of travelling to Lagos for a well-run race. They borrowed cones, recruited friends as marshals, and timed the first race with stopwatches.

Seven years later the series has chip timing, closed roads, medical cover on every course and a full-time race office in Agodi. The aims have not changed: safe courses, honest results, and a start line that welcomes everyone from elite runners to first-time walkers.

Safety first

  1. Medical plan

Ambulances, bike medics, first aid every 5 km and a doctor-led tent at the finish, agreed with our example medical partner.

  2. Closed roads

Courses are closed to traffic, with state traffic officers at every major junction.

  3. Weather watch

We monitor heat and storms from 48 hours out and will delay or shorten a race if it is not safe.

  4. Runner tracking

Every bib has a chip, so we know where every runner is and when they last crossed a mat.
