Six habits our trainers swear by
- 01
Five minutes beats one hour
Three five minute sessions a day teach more than a long weekend session. Stop while your dog still wants more.
- 02
Pay the gate
Ask for a sit before the gate opens, every time. It becomes the habit that keeps your dog off the road.
- 03
Heat check
Put the back of your hand on the road for five seconds. Too hot for you means too hot for paws.
- 04
Name means good things
Never call your dog by name to scold or to bath. Keep the name for treats and fun.
- 05
Chews for calm
A long chew after a walk helps a dog settle. Licking and chewing are calming in themselves.
- 06
Count the treats
Training treats come out of the daily food. Weigh breakfast and use a handful as rewards.
