Solar boreholes and repaired hand pumps, placed at schools where children and their families can reach them, with caretakers and hygiene clubs to keep them going.
How it works
Four steps, every term
The same simple model in every community we work with.
Survey
With the community, we find the best place for a water point, usually at the school.
Build
A local driller builds a solar borehole or repairs an old hand pump.
Train
Two caretakers learn to maintain it and a water committee manages a small fund.
Keep clean
School hygiene clubs teach hand washing and keep the area clean.
