Why the tide matters

The creek sets the timetable

At high water the root tunnels fill and a kayak can slip through where you could walk six hours earlier. At low water the mudflats open for birds, crabs and planting. We plan every day around it.

Guides from the village

Born on the water

All twelve of our guides grew up in Okun or the next village, and most fished these creeks before guiding.

Trained naturalists

Each guide completes a year of bird, plant and first aid training with our conservation team.

Small groups

Never more than six guests to a guide on the water, and private trips for any group on request.

Questions

Before you go out

Do I need to be able to swim?

Life jackets are worn on every water trip. Non-swimmers are welcome on calm-water trips in a double kayak or canoe with a guide.

What should I wear?

Light clothes that can get wet, a hat and closed sandals. We lend rain jackets and dry bags.

Can I book activities on arrival?

Yes, at the lodge house, though dawn kayaks fill quickly in high season. Booking ahead in the stay builder is best.
