Our story

A film city built by people who make films

Harbour Film City was started by Ibadan producers who were tired of losing shoot days to traffic, power cuts and borrowed locations. We built the lot we always wanted to work on, and opened it to everyone.

11 haof lot
240people on staff
2,100shoot days since 2021
6stages

How the lot grew

  1. 2019: The land11 hectares of a former timber yard off Ring Road, bought by a group of Ibadan producers.
  2. 2021: Stages 1 and 2 openAgodi and Mokola open with the first solar field. The first feature shoots for 40 days.
  3. 2023: The backlotMarina row and the market square are built, then the colonial row.
  4. 2024: The crew village64 cabins and the canteen. Crews stop commuting from town.
  5. 2025: The harbour tankDigging and sealing finish. The first wet day is in September 2026.
  6. 2026: The post houseEdit, grade and mix on the lot, with a 60 seat screening room.

What we believe

  1. Time is the budget

Every hour a crew waits costs money. We plan power, access and food so nobody waits.

  2. Train the next crew

Thirty film students a year work on productions in paid placements.

  3. Look after the people in the water and on the floor

Safety briefings, a nurse on set and fair pay for extras within seven days.

  4. Be a good neighbour

Night shoots keep noise inside the fence, and we hire from the communities around Ring Road first.
